The other night at the Shrine ( 10/14/76 ) was my 1st show . Not as good as this night, but a nice "Dancing>Wharf Rat>Dancing" . A good show for a beginner, as they played mostly "songs" . The next show I saw, was the justly famous Swing Auditorium show , VERY different .
Besides sedimental reasons, I like this late 76 into early 77 period . A little more relaxed than spring 77, a little more forceful that the earlier shows in 76 . And like alot of 76 shows , interesting set lists .

Sadly, I did not . I persuaded my friend to go to the concert , "I heard the Grateful Dead are really good live..." . It wasn't till the 80's that we would go to multiple shows .
LA in the 70's,HEAVY police action ! Helmeted, riot gear, cops patted us down ,... it is funny when you realize how MELLOW the 1976 Dead were , the robust police presence did not make sense .
The Shrine is a concert hall, and one of those old, ornate ones, my mother remembers seeing opera, and ballet there in the 40's . The AUDs here on the Archive give a pretty good idea what it was like .In hindsight , we were lucky to get to see them in such a "small" , and decent sounding concert hall .
Saw them here again in early 78 ( 1/10/78 ), an awesome show ,(check out the AUD ) .
